Quarter 3...Getting After It!

Report Cards
Will be printed and sent home Thursday, February 1 for Sarah's class. Friday, February 2 for all other K-2 kiddos. Please let Pat or me know when your gradebook reporting is complete. We'll fire up the printing presses!

Data Meetings
Let's take a look at growth, supports and any changes that may need to take place. Please let me know if these dates/times do not work for your calendar:

  • K: 2/7 at 11:45
  • 1st: 2/5 at 12:45
  • 2nd: 2/8 at 12:45
Chapel
Matt Stob will be leading us in chapel on Wednesday, January 31!

City Vu
Remember the fun we had at Christmas time when Lia opened up her house? It's so good to sit around with our "friend" hats on rather than our "occupation" hats on. We talked about trying that again. If you can make it, let's meet at City Vu on Thursday, February 1 after school. Come when you can. Stay as long as you are able. Let's just laugh a bit for a while (I think I recall last year we placed guesses on Natalie's engagement! What trouble will we find this time? ;) ) Sadly, we exhausted our CEA speaker fee payment which purchased our pizzas at Christmas time. We'll each have to pick up our own tabs this round. Hope many of you are able to make it!

12 Middle School Kids
Thank you for being willing to help the Hollebeeks in a very tangible way. He still asks and worries about the middle school teachers and students. This will put his mind at ease to know that the students whom he was arranged to teach will be covered with an equally excellent learning experience. We'll work through those finer details as the date nears.

February PD
If you're seeking child care coverage for the 16th, we will be meeting from 8:00-3:00 on Friday, February 16 (we maaaaay be able to squeak out early....yet TBD). Breakfast is served from 7:30-8:00.

Is that all? WHAAAT?!? I can't think of more to add....so let me say this. I love working with you. EACH of you! It's been a year full of steep learning curves, trials, celebrations and moments that we can pause to praise. It is a JOY to do ALL of these alongside each of you! THANK YOU! for being YOU and for serving at South Side for such a time as this!

Happy New Year!

I hope and trust that each of you had an enjoyable Christmas Break with your families. SO well deserved. It makes me smile to think about hard-working teachers, who do a million things a minute all day, have the luxurious two weeks to slow down a bit (who am I kidding....Christmas was in there!?) and enjoy family, some down time and celebrate the birth of our King!

This new year has been shadowed, as you know, by the diagnosis of our friend Dirk. Thank you for supporting Dirk on his FB page and praying consistently.

JK Teachers!
Guess what! We have a new teacher on staff! I'm really excited to share with you that Jamie and Lisa have decided to carve some new JK territory. They are BOTH going to serve as lead teachers in the classrooms. Imagine all of the differentiation, instruction and love they can provide their little ones. So, when asked, our JK class has two classroom teachers and no aide: Mrs. Lanser and Mrs. VanKampen. What a dynamic duo!

MLK Day Plans
Let's recap, shall we? Come to the gym at 8:45 for an MLK Day assembly. I'll be teaching the kids for about 15 minutes just to lay the groundwork and provide a taste of the history to commemorating this day. Then you may pace your morning as you see fit. Focus on MLK's love for all people and desire/passion for equality for all people. In an effort to help our students understand that we are called, as children of God, to love ALL people, we will travel throughout the neighborhood (K-2) blessing households with trinkets of love/goody bags.
